Join us

We offer a range of opportunities at all levels including Masters projects, PhD and postdoc.

Master projects

Spend one year in our group to work on your Masters thesis project. You will work with state-of-the-art infrastructure at the Nano-Institute to design, nanofabricate, and optically characterize nanophotonic systems with new and interesting applications. The exact topic of the project will be from one of our research areas, and will be tailored to your interests and previous experience. For example, your project could be:

  • The design and experimental realization of a new metasurface sensor for detecting disease biomarkers, combining optical spectroscopy and machine learning.
  • The investigation of metasurfaces composed of van der Waals materials for enhancing single photon generation, involving exfoliation and transfer of the materials and advanced optical spectroscopy.

If you are interested, contact Andreas via email.

PhD positions

Work towards becoming an independent researcher as a PhD student in our group.

  • There are currently no funded PhD positions available.

If you have your own funding (e.g. through a fellowship or stipend) and are interested in working with us on cutting-edge nanophotonics topics, please contact Andreas via email.

Chinese cititzens can participate in the LMU-CSC Scholarship Program, which can be used to fully fund your PhD research in our group for a maximum of 4 year. The topic can be flexibly chosen from our research lines and can be tailored to the application. Please contact Andreas to discuss a possible research outline.

Postdoctoral postitions

Pursue your own ideas and lead projects in the context of our general research themes as a postdoctoral researcher in our group. Work in a dynamic and highly motivated group and take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities.

  • There are currently no funded postdoctoral positions available.

We are always happy to host applications for postdoctoral fellowship programs, including the prestigeous Humboldt and Marie-Curie Fellowships. Please contact Andreas to discuss possible joint projects and to get help with your application. Likewise, if you have your own funding (from another fellowship or stipend), we are happy to see if we can host you.
