University Observatory Munich official opening of second floor

The University Observatory Munich celebrated the official opening of its newly constructed second floor on 25th November, marking an important milestone for the future of astrophysical research. The expansion became necessary after decades of steady growth had pushed the institute to the limits of its available space. Thanks to Bavaria’s Hightech Agenda, the observatory now offers modern facilities for new projects, research teams, and students. With this addition, LMU strengthens the long-term foundation for Munich’s role as an internationally leading center in astrophysics. Following the official ceremony, the new floor was presented to the public for the first time.
