Current Information on Teaching at the Faculty of Physics

General questions about teaching at the Faculty of Physics (i.e. questions that do not concern single courses) should be directed to studium@physik.lmu.de. If you have questions about a specific course, please contact the corresponding lecturer. For questions concerning your studies at the Faculty of Physics you can also contact our program counseling service.

You will only receive information about the physics programme to your LMU e-mail address. Please follow the instructions for accessing your LMU mailbox.

Winter Semester 2025/26

Students who began their studies from the winter semester 2023/24 onwards must register for all module examinations they wish to take in the current winter semester between 1 January 2026 and 31 January 2026 using the LSF ‘Register for Exams’ function (https://lsf.verwaltung.uni-muenchen.de/).

This applies not only to examinations for lectures, but also to examinations for seminars (even if you have already given your presentation), lab courses, key qualifications, etc. Examination registration is also required if a course only takes place at the end of the semester as a block course.

Please note: Your grades can only be recorded and entered into your transcript of records if you have registered for the examination!

Registration for a module examination is mandatory, even if you wish to take a repeat examination. Late registration after 31 January 2026 is not possible.

Students who began their studies before the winter semester 2023/24 must register for the module examinations of the compulsory lectures via the LSF course catalogue between 1 January 2026 and 31 January 2026.

For module examinations in the area of elective lectures, seminars, lab courses, key qualifications, etc., the lecturers will inform you how to register for the examinations (e.g. via Moodle).

Summer Semester 2026

  • The main exams for the compulsory lectures will take place between 20 July 2026 and 31 July 2026.
  • The retake exams for the compulsory lectures will take place between 8 September 2026 and 28 September 2026.

The exact dates will be announced in advance in the LSF course catalogue.

To participate in courses offered by the Faculty of Physics, you must register via LSF. The registration period begins on 23 March 2026 and ends on 7 April 2026. Students who are not yet enrolled during the mentioned registration period can register subsequently from 9 April 2026 to 4 May 2026.

If LSF registration is not required for individual courses, this will be noted in LSF.

The Welcome and Information Session is addressed to all students who will be starting one of the following Master's programmes in the summer semester 2026:

  • M.Sc. Physics,
  • M.Sc. Astrophysics
  • M.Sc. Meteorology

Time: Friday, 10 April 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Location: Schellingstr. 4, Room H 030

Registration is not required.
