Chiara Hortmann focuses on promoting the effective acquisition of knowledge and skills in physics lessons, embedded in the context of teaching and learning with and about artificial intelligence. With a focus on generative artificial intelligence, she develops tailor-made learning materials to optimize learning processes. As part of her research, she also focuses on personalized feedback as a tool to improve the learning process. Another central aspect of her work is to support the development of critical thinking skills in physics education, where both representations and experimental approaches play an important role.
After successfully completing her business administration studies, Chiara Hortmann completed a teaching degree in physics and mathematics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel (2016-2021). During her final thesis she was supervised by the Leibniz Institute for Science Education in Kiel. She completed her Referendariat at a high school near Kiel (2022-2023). Since 2023 she has been working as a research assistant at the chair of physics didactics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Bavaria.
