Atakan Coban's research area focuses on improving the efficiency of the teaching process by using innovative tools in STEM subjects, especially in physics. The use of augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) and Arduino microcontrollers in physics education is at the centre of his research.
In order to analyse the impact of such teaching practices on learning, in his qualitative and quantitative research, he uses statistical methods to analyse the rate of change of students or pre-service teachers on various variables.
Atakan Coban received his BSc (2011-2016), MSc (2016-2018) and PhD (2018-2023) degrees in Physics Education from Dokuz Eylül University in Türkiye. He worked as a physics teacher between 2016-2019 and then as a research assistant at Yeditepe University Physics Department between 2019-2023. He has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Physics Didactics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich since 2023.
